Collard Greens with Ham Hock

Collard Greens With Ham Hock
Ingredients
- 2 bunches Collard Greens
- 1 ea Small Yellow Onion
- 2 Tbsp Olive Oil/Lard/Bacon Grease
- 3 ea Garlic Cloves
- 2 tsp Salt
- 1 tsp Brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp Crushed Red Pepper
- 1 Tbsp Apple Cider Vinegar
- 2 Lbs. Ham Hock
- 6-7 cups Chicken Broth
- Hot sauce, seasoned salt optional
Instructions
- Dice and sauté Onion until translucent about 3 mins
- Add garlic and seasonings cook for 30 secs.
- Add Ham and cover with broth cook covered for one hour.
- Remove collards from the stem and chop into one inch strips.
- Add greens to simmering broth cover and cook on low for one hour.
- Remove ham hock from broth. Carefully, shred the ham hock from the bone using a fork. Return the shredded meat back into the pot.
- Add additional hot sauce or seasoned salt if desired. Serve and Enjoy!
